Spanish company Bandesur has developed innovative foamed trays protected with Biomaster antimicrobial technology.
Bandesur’s XPS antimicrobial trays are manufactured from a foamed material, available in 30 different sizes and in any colour.
Studies from the Food Standards Agency have found that up to 7% of raw chicken packaging in UK supermarkets show traces of the dangerous food borne pathogen Campylobacter – the equivalent of around 9 million packets.
Incorporating Biomaster into the trays inhibits the growth of common food-poisoning bacteria on the outer surface of the packaging through the whole processing chain from the farm to point of sale.
Bandesur specialises in the production of food packaging, mostly of polystyrene. The company manufactures foam containers, PET, complex of trays and PVC film at its plant at group headquarters in Alcalá la Real, Jaén, Spain.
Addmaster (UK) Ltd. Marketing Manager Karl Shaw says: “Meat packaging can harbour harmful bacteria, so we welcome this addition to the range of Biomaster protected products now available”.
